Worldscar

Category: Real-World Action RPG

In Development

Worldscar: The Hollowing is a real-world action RPG that turns the places you already walk through into a living dark-fantasy realm. A corrupted world called the Hollow is bleeding into our own, its monsters taking the shape of the land around you, and you are one of the few who can see it, fight it, and push it back. Your world is the dungeon.

The premise

You play a Warden, one of the few people able to see the creatures leaking into reality from a sealed, corrupted realm known as the Hollow. Its ancient seals are failing, the corruption is spreading, and it reshapes itself to match wherever you happen to be standing.

Your real surroundings decide what you face. A park becomes a haunted grove of beasts and spirits. A river turns into a drowned kingdom of the restless dead. A city centre becomes a necropolis, an industrial estate a furnace-blighted warzone, and farmland a rotting plague field. Every place you know hides a darker version of itself, waiting for someone to walk into it.

Worldscar key art: a backpacked explorer holds up a phone on a city street as a glowing hex-grid path, a lightning-wreathed golden owl, a towering moss-covered horned beast, and a spectral blue wolf rise from the real world around them, beneath the ornate Worldscar logo and the line The Real World, Untamed.

How it plays

You explore on foot. Walking reveals nearby monsters, chests, supply caches, rifts, and events across a map of your real area, each encounter tuned to the kind of terrain you are actually standing in. Choose a fight and you drop into a fast, readable real-time battle: switch between guns, bows, and magic, dodge, time your abilities, and unleash a charged ultimate before the loot drops.

Everything you earn feeds a deep RPG progression of weapons, armour, spells, crafting, and biome mastery, with gear that climbs from common scavenge to build-defining relics. Play solo as a quiet hunter clearing your local corruption, or team up for co-op horde events, towering world bosses, and short rift dungeons. When you want the risk, opt into duels and faction wars for the territory around you. An optional augmented-reality mode lets the creatures step into your own surroundings, but every battle plays in full without it.

Core features

  • Real-world exploration that turns your actual surroundings into a dark-fantasy map of monsters, chests, rifts, and events.
  • Biome-driven encounters: parks, rivers, city centres, industrial estates, and farmland each spawn their own enemies, bosses, and loot.
  • Fast, mobile-friendly real-time combat across three weapon families — guns, bows, and magic — with dodges, abilities, and charged ultimates.
  • Deep RPG progression with crafting, weapon, spell, and biome mastery, and gear rarities that climb all the way to build-defining relics.
  • Solo-friendly, or co-op horde events, world bosses, and short rift dungeons with other Wardens.
  • Opt-in duels and faction wars over real territory, plus seasonal threats that reshape the world every few weeks.

Why it stands out

Plenty of games send you out walking to collect things. Worldscar is built around what happens when you arrive: real-time combat, loot worth chasing, and a world that genuinely changes depending on where you live and where you wander.

Because the danger is drawn from your own surroundings, no two players share the same map. A coastal town, a dense city, and a stretch of farmland each play very differently. It is designed to make an ordinary walk feel like stepping into a dungeon, with real-world safety built into how and where encounters appear.

The Bestiary

Sixty-four creatures haunt the five biomes of Worldscar — goblin warrens and hollow stags, drowned krakens and crowned scarecrows, furnace colossi and the things that preach to the dead. Browse the full field guide: art, lore, elemental weaknesses, and where each one is found.
