SECTION 1
Quick summary
Last updated: 15 June 2026
Worldscar turns the real world around you into a dark-fantasy map you explore on foot. To do that,
the game uses your device’s location and, optionally, your camera. When you play online,
limited profile and approximate-location data is shared with other players so you can see each
other and play together.
In short: location is used only while the app is open (there is no background
tracking). Camera images for AR are processed on your device and are not uploaded. Most of your
progress is stored on your device. When online, your approximate location, display name, avatar,
and any chat you send are visible to other players.
SECTION 2
Location data
With your permission, Worldscar accesses your device’s precise location to:
- place your character on a real-world map and reveal nearby encounters, caches, and points of interest;
- credit the distance you walk for goals, streaks, and rewards;
- determine the kind of place you are in (for example park, river, or city) to theme the game.
Location is accessed only while the app is open and in use. Worldscar does not
request or use background location and does not track your movements when the app is closed.
To draw the map and populate it, your approximate location or map view is sent to mapping, weather,
and place-data providers (see Service Providers). When you play online,
an approximate, deliberately coarsened position is shared with other nearby players
so you can find each other; your exact coordinates are not intended to be shown to other players.
SECTION 3
Camera and augmented reality
Worldscar includes an optional augmented-reality (AR) mode that uses your camera to
show battles in your surroundings. The camera feed is processed live on your device to render the
scene. We do not upload, record, transmit, or store camera images or video. AR is entirely optional
and every battle can be played without it; you can decline or revoke camera access at any time in
your device settings.
SECTION 4
Account and gameplay data
You can play Worldscar without creating a traditional account. For online features, the game signs
in with an anonymous identifier provided by Google Firebase Authentication. We may process:
- Profile you choose, such as a display name, handle, and selected avatar;
- Gameplay state, such as level, progress, inventory, and preferences;
- A pseudonymous account identifier and basic technical/diagnostic data used to run and stabilise online features.
Most gameplay data is stored locally on your device. Only the information needed for multiplayer
(see below) is sent to our backend.
SECTION 5
Multiplayer, presence, and chat
When you use online features, the following is shared through our backend so play works:
- Presence: your approximate (coarsened) location, display name, avatar, and level are visible to other nearby players and to your party and friends.
- Parties and friends: friend codes/handles and party membership used to connect you with people you choose to play with.
- Chat and user content: messages you send in party or co-op chat are transmitted to and visible to other players.
Chat and display names are user-generated. Please do not share sensitive personal information, and
be respectful of others. We may apply automated filtering and may review reports of abuse; content
that violates our Terms & Conditions may be removed and
accounts may be restricted.
SECTION 6
Third-party service providers
Worldscar relies on the following providers, which may process limited data (such as your approximate location or IP address) to deliver their service:

SECTION 7
Where data is stored and how long we keep it
Your character, progress, and most settings are stored locally on your device. Multiplayer data
(presence, party, friend, and chat records) is stored on our backend for as long as needed to
provide online features, and is removed or expires when no longer needed — for example,
presence is cleared shortly after you go offline. Retention otherwise follows the studio-wide
Privacy Policy.
SECTION 8
Deleting your data
You can delete your data at any time:
- In the game: open the menu and choose Delete Warden. This clears your local game data and removes your online account and associated multiplayer records.
- By request: if you have uninstalled the app or need help, email [email protected] and we will action your request.
SECTION 9
Children
Worldscar is a real-world, location-based game with online social features and is not directed to
children under 13 (or the minimum age required in your country). We do not knowingly collect
personal data from children without an appropriate lawful basis. If you believe a child has provided
data to us, contact us so we can review and delete it where required.
SECTION 10
Your choices and controls
- You can grant or revoke location and camera permissions at any time in your device settings. Declining location limits core gameplay; declining camera only disables optional AR.
- You choose whether to use online features, send chat, or join parties.
- You can delete your data as described above, and exercise the privacy rights set out in the studio Privacy Policy.
